In 1801 President Thomas Jefferson sent Captains Lewis and Clark to find a Northwest Passage to the Pacific ocean. He also dispatched a Clipper ship that was suppose to rendezvous with them when they arrived at the coast. With undaunted courage the Captains had achieved that amazing feat. Upon seeing the Pacific for the first time Meriweather Lewis noted in his journal, "Oh the Joy!". Unfortunately, after waiting 180 rain-soaked days at Fort Clatsop and still no ship in sight, the Captains departed with their weary crew on the arduous return trip home. It is highly likely the ship had been lost at sea.
In 2001 Songwriter Dale Rollins produced a live radio theater commemorating the bi-centennial of Lewis and Clark's "Corps of Discovery". Dale had written the songs and script; And, with the help of dozens of musicians, family, and friends; they enjoyed one successful season. The rest is history.
