Loggin trains, once instrumental in opening up the West, are all gone now. Tracks have given way to hiking trails for other generations to follow. This poinient song is a love song about a young fireman on Engine 41, Siskiyou to McCloud bound.

Steam engines traveled above our small farm in the Oregon Cascades. They hauled logs to Medford, Oregon. The sight of the steam rising above the Doug fir; and the steam power sounds left a huge impact upon the five-year old kid. I heard a real life story about an Engine 41 in Northern California. I wrote the song about that young couple--Dale Rollins
